Ward Off Winter Blues with this Trick

Envision the color yellow in your head. What do you picture? Bright sunshine? Warmth? Happiness? The beach?

Colors have a huge impact on emotions. Most of us associate specific colors with specific feelings, emotions, and holidays. Specific objects are often associated with color, like a fire truck. RED, one of the most intense colors which in turn can stimulate some of the strongest emotions.

Think of a spa. Would you feel relaxed with bright red walls? Or does this peaceful environment lend more to muted, soft shades of blue and green?

Color plays a huge role in every day life.

Science has proven that every color has a different, energy, frequency, and wavelength. When our brains perceive this energy it signals the body to release different chemicals and hormones. Have you heard of COLOR PSYCHOLOGY? This is the study of how certain colors impact human behavior.

Bringing this thought process inward, how does color affect YOU? Have you ever experienced the "Winter Blues"? I often get seasonal depression and something I have found helpful is to surround myself with bright, happy colors. Wearing these colors is a fantastic trick that helps me embody their emotional affects. When its cloudy, dark and gray, I'll wear a bright blue or yellow and even red and pink to stimulate my brain into being happy and motivated. I've included some of my most recent brightly colored finds below but let's take a look at different colors and some words they are most often associated with:

RED: energy, passion, emergency, love, danger, courage

PINK: love, playful, passionate, romance

ORANGE: flamboyant, optimistic, determination

YELLOW: joy, happiness, friendship, optimistic, intelligent

GREEN: money, nature, refreshing, luck, envy

BLUE: freedom, imagination, inspiration, sensitivity, loyalty

WHITE: cleanliness, purity, simplicity

It is interesting also to note that shades of each color can invoke different and even opposing feelings. Keep that in mind and choose colors you wear or that surround your home with purpose.

What did you find helpful?? What is your favorite color and why?? Tell me in the comment section.

The following are links to bright clothes I've been loving this winter season:

A few notes on sizing:

Left picture - I am wearing the crop version of the coat in my regular size. I have tried on the waist length coat and you need to size DOWN for that one.

Center picture - the blue sheer shirt underneath is my new favorite. Size UP for that one.

All other pieces are TTS.

Also - MIX AND MATCH! I love combing the brights! Blue and yellow, blue and pink, pink and yellow, pink and red! PLAY with color!

XOXO,

-Kimberly
